Carolyn Walton, RN, BSN, MHA, CRRN, FACHE has more than 40 years’ experience working in healthcare roles which include clinical, management, and administrative positions. These roles encompass inpatient, outpatient, adult, and pediatric sites.
She has been a CARF surveyor for more than 14 years, conducting national and international CARF accreditation surveys of rehabilitation settings in various settings and specialty areas. Carolyn also participated on the International Standards Committee, helping to develop the CARF Cancer Rehabilitation Standards.
Ms. Walton earned a B.S.N. degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of St. Francis. She has been a Certified Registered Rehabilitation Nurse (CRRN) for 35 years and has been a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) since 2017.
Her professional career has included providing direction, leadership, and coordination of rehabilitation programs and therapy services across multiple care sites including: acute adult inpatient, comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation, pediatric rehab, outpatient specialty programs, pain centers, senior services, dialysis, infusion services, wound care, and behavioral health services.
Her expertise lies in strategic and operational goal setting, building effective continuums of care, and leading teams to higher performance. Carolyn enjoys collaborating with organizations to develop new programs as well as strengthen existing ones.
Outside of her professional life, Carolyn values her large extended family, friends, and animals, along with spending time traveling, reading, and cooking.
