Karen Divito

Karen S. Divito, MSHA has over 40 years of experience in rehabilitation, starting out as a physical therapist in a variety of healthcare settings and then moving into management. She earned a BS in Physical Therapy from Ithaca College in 1975 and then a Masters of Science in Healthcare Administration in 1994.

Most recently, Karen returned from 9 months working in the United Arab Emirates, where she was the director of a 78 bed newly constructed rehabilitation hospital in Abu Dhabi. It is the first free standing rehabilitation hospital in the UAE. There, Karen had the privilege of working with healthcare professionals from all over the world and gained valuable experience negotiating with government officials who had little working knowledge of rehabilitation. Prior to her experience in the UAE, Karen worked at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska where she served as the Director of Rehabilitation Programs for 12 years. She was responsible for 20 specialty programs across a continuum of care including LTCH, Acute Rehabilitation, Outpatient, and Long Term Follow-up. Karen has been a CARF International Medical Rehabilitation Surveyor for over 11 years, traveling throughout the US, Canada, and Europe to participate in accreditation surveys and provide consultation services.

Karen’s strengths lie in the areas of program development, referral development, quality improvement and outcomes management, staff development, and CARF accreditation preparation. Karen is very comfortable with public speaking and interacting with people from a wide array of cultures and backgrounds. She is LEAN trained and familiar with Studer Group Principles, and an experienced group facilitator.

Personally, Karen and her husband enjoy travel and experiencing new cultures such as riding a camel in the desert outside Dubai, having dinner with a local family in Italy, walking in the surf along Florida’s coast, or tasting great local dishes throughout the world.
